Ergonomics and freedom of movement
Across all black dot models, the backrest is connected to the aluminium support by a flexible joint so that it can follow the upper body perfectly in every direction – even during extreme sideways movements. With so much freedom of movement, it encourages frequent posture changes, in line with modern ergonomic principles, as recommended by the ergonomics of today. Greater freedom of movement supports greater freedom of thought.
Dorsokinetics
What’s unique about Sedus’ patented dorsokinetic mechanism is that the backrest is attached at only one point by a flexible joint. Where other chairs are rigid, black dot is dynamic and supports the back, even when swivelling or turning to the side.
“Similar” mechanism
Perfectly matched mechanical springs ensure smooth, balanced movement patterns in full synchrony with the body during dynamic sitting. The backrest remains in constant contact with the upper body at all times.
Sedo-lift mechanism
The patented Sedo-Lift mechanism also contributes to excellent seating comfort. With it, the seat height can be adjusted easily, continuously and without wear. Even in its lowest setting, this worldwide patented seat height adjustment ensures a soft, back-friendly cushioning when sitting down. A steel spring absorbs the ‘shock’ of sitting down, regardless of the selected seat height. The gas spring is thus relieved of load and is, therefore, particularly durable – the 30-year Sedus warranty conditions apply.
DIN EN: 1335-1:2023 Type A
DIN EN:1335-1:2023 focuses on the dimensional requirements for an ergonomic office swivel chair in the working environment. The standard specifies adjustment ranges and ensures a standardised measurement method. Categorisation into Types A, B and C gives an indication of the ergonomics of that chair, with A and B meeting the requirements of the Directive on Work with Display Screen Equipment. If an office chair is Type A compliant, the advantages are obvious: the adjustment ranges allow the office chair to fit many people of different stature and can be individually adjusted to the user.
black dot 24 for continuous use
Office chairs intended for continuous use must meet particularly demanding standards to still deliver optimum comfort even after many hours. In addition to complying with key ergonomic standards, black dot 24 is fitted as standard with a sliding seat, thicker and wider seat cushioning, the “Similar” mechanism with reinforced springs and 4-D adjustable armrests. The chair is also approved for users weighing up to 150 kg.

The airy, breathable mesh membrane in the backrest appears particularly slim and light. The mesh ensures optimal pressure distribution according to individual body weight.

The knitted upholstery of the black dot air provides high seating comfort and impresses with a refined 3D quilting that combines a pleasant feel with an innovative look. The three-dimensional quilting is available in five colours.

Neck support
Leaning back is part of active sitting – it’s a plus when a neck support helps the muscles. It is individually adjustable in height and depth and relieves the shoulder area.
Armrests
The basic version of black dot offers height-adjustable armrests; 4D armrests with soft-touch pads are optionally available.
Seat depth adjustment
With the seat depth adjustment of up to 60 mm, the chair can be tailored to different body sizes, ensuring optimal thigh support and comfort. The seat pan always remains in the correct proportion to the backrest. Furthermore, the seat can be tilted by up to 4 degrees which offers a more dynamic and personalised sitting position.
